Is a Candidate who has done graduation without Passing Class X & Class XII eligible for IES/ISS Examination?

Yes. For IES/ISS Exams, the candidate is eligible since the UPSC has not specified the mode of acquiring the degree.


What is the prescribed age limit for the examination?

To appear in the exam the minimum age is 21 years on on 1st January of the year of Examination. The upper age limit depends upon the category to which you belong. If you belong to,
1. General Category, the upper age limit is 30 years
2. Other Backward Classes, it is 33 years
3. SC/ST category, upper age limit is 35

The Examination consists of the following 6 papers (Conventional type) and Personality Test For Indian Economic Service, Paper I: General English - 100 Marks Paper II: General Studies - 100 Marks Paper III: General Economics ?I 200 Marks Paper IV: General Economics-II 200 Marks Paper V: General Economics-III 200 Marks Paper VI: General Economics IV 200 Marks For Indian Statistical Service, Paper I: General English - 100 Marks Paper II: General Studies - 100 Marks Paper III: Statistics ?I 200 Marks Paper IV: Statistics -II 200 Marks Paper V: Statistics -III 200 Marks Paper VI: Statistics IV 200 Marks In both exams Personality Test with 200 marks will be included in the Final result

What does the General English and General Studies consists of?

In General English, Candidates will be required to write an essay in English. Other questions will be designed to test their understanding of English and workmanlike use of words. Passages will usually be set for summary or precis. In General Studies, General Knowledge including knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. The paper will also include questions on Indian Polity including the political system and the Constitution of India, History of India and Geography of a nature which the candidate should be able to answer without special study.
